App-Make-inator is a complete, already quite mature, visual development environment that allows people to build full HTML5 applications for mobile platforms (and, obviously, for the web as well).
It already exists as a desktop application that runs on Linux, Mac and Windows. With full support for building graphically rich, animated HTML5 applications. Which, we can all agree, is pretty awesome.
But wouldn't it be even MORE awesome if App-Make-inator itself were written in "HTML5" and updated to be completely usable on an Android tablet (or iPad)? Yes. Yes it would.
Let's be honest. You've been wanting a complete, powerful rapid application development suite on your tablet. You know you have. And this is exactly that.
1) You don't HAVE to write any code to build apps.
2) But you totally CAN write code if you want to.
Which means it's awesome for those learning programming... and equally awesome for seasoned, neck-bearded devs.
2) Updating user interface to be 100% usable via a touch-screen.
4) Built and packaged for Android with .apk freely available.
That's right. I don't discriminate. iOS? Ubuntu? You bet. Users of those platforms deserve an awesome, touch-friendly way to build apps too.
Think about how awesome that would be for a second. A complete, visual, rapid application development suite that is not only Open Source... but able to be tossed up on your own web server and used however you like.
Will include documentation and installation instructions to setup App-Make-inator on your web server.
All code will be released under the GPLv2 and made available via GitHub.
So, how quickly will this get done? Estimates are always hard. Luckily I've already built the desktop version of App-Make-inator. And not insignificant work has begun on this new HTML5 version.
My current goal is to have the first functioning Beta builds available for testing within 1 month from the completion of funding.
My name is Bryan Lunduke. I've been building cross-platform software since the '90s -- and building visual, multi-platform software development tools for the last 3 years. I've shipped a boat-load of software in my time, and I know exactly what is needed to get this over the finish line.
You may also know me from some of my non-Software endeavors: Such as writing for Linux World / Network World and founding the Linux Action Show back in 2006.
All funds raised by this fundraiser will go directly towards the development of App-Make-inator. Including:
1) Paying a freelance graphic designer to build high quality (Open Sourced) icons and interface elements.
2) Funding coding time.
3) Covering costs of devices needed for testing.
